The Day I Saw Jesus
I Walked on Water
The icy tendrils of fear snaked up Amelia’s spine, constricting her breath.
The tempestuous Mediterranean Sea churned around her tiny boat, waves a monstrous, frothing maw threatening to swallow her crew whole.
Lightning, a celestial sword, ripped across the sky, illuminating the figure approaching their storm-tossed boat.
“It’s a ghost!” shrieked Thomas, his voice a threadbare echo of Amelia’s terror.
The other crew members scrambled towards the stern, their faces etched with raw panic.
But Amelia couldn’t tear her gaze from the apparition. It was a man, shinning bright against the backdrop of the violent storm, his footsteps impossibly light upon the churning water.
A single word, imbued with unimaginable power, calmed the tempest within her: “Amelia,” He said. It was Jesus. It was The Lord Jesus Christ.
His voice a beacon in the howling darkness. Yet, a tendril of doubt, dared to whisper, “This cannot be real.”
“Lord, if it is you,” Amelia’s voice, tinged with a tremor of hope, cut through the tumult, “command me to come to you on the water.”
Jesus’ reply, a radiant promise, echoed across the treacherous waves, “Come.”
In that instant, a battle raged within Amelia. The storm mirrored the tempest in her soul.
Faith, a fragile ember, flickered against the icy wind of doubt. But then, she remembered His unconditional love.
With a desperate prayer clinging to her lips, Amelia stepped onto the gunwale. The icy water rushed against her bare feet, a jolt that sent a gasp through her.
But beneath her trembling soles, it was like walking on a shimmering crystal path.
Awe, a feeling as vast as the storm-wracked sky, washed over her. Every fiber of her being vibrated with the power of this holy moment.
Hesitant, she took a step towards Jesus. Each step was a testament to her burgeoning faith, a defiance against the storm within and without.
As she drew closer to The Lord Jesus, the wind sighed, the waves abated, the lightning retreated. All that remained was the steady rhythm of her steps and the radiant presence of The Lord.
When she reached Jesus, His eyes, deep pools of divine love, held hers. A single tear, glistening with the reflection of a thousand shattered doubts, traced a path down her cheek.
“You of little faith,” Jesus said, his voice laced with loving kindness that eclipsed the storm, “Why did you doubt?”
Shame threatened to consume her. Yet, in His warm gaze, she found no condemnation, only understanding.
In that moment, Amelia received a gift far greater than the miracle of walking on water. She received the profound understanding that faith, like a flame, flickers and wanes, but with perseverance and unwavering love in her heart, she could rekindle its brilliance.
As they returned to the boat, a profound calm settled over the sea, mirroring the newfound peace in Amelia’s heart. The storm had not only been quelled on the water’s surface, but within her spirit.
